beau vallon

I took a very good decision. I made a flight reservation southeast (for a change) and ended up on this special place south of the equator. The Seychelles.  The picture is from Beau Vallon beach at the island of Mahé.

and blood!  When these gentlemen understood that I was pointing the camera mostly towards them rather than focusing the fighting-cocks the mood changed and became quite aggressive.

I left without arguing. These games are illegal and I had been told that two policemen had been beaten to death a couple of months earlier at another cock-fight!

Mother, father and two kids taking a trip on the Madeira, a tributary to the Amazon-river.

The locals in the Amazon region still carve dug-out canoes from trees in the rainforest. The river is often the main transportation route and the canoe is a common and convenient way of moving around.

Along the river

Went for a walk along the river in the cold and sunny weather today. The back pack filled with the big expensive camera plus extra lenses. Never took anything of it out.. it was too cold. iPhone and the panorama feature made the trick.

 

Ship building

The ship-building business is a traditional industry in Gothenburg. Structural change in the global economy ended this some 50 years ago.  Still there are some smaller ship building yards left on the Hisingen side of the river.  Picture from August 22. 2012
