The tower of Manaca Iznaga

At the peak of sugar industry there were more than fifty cane sugar mills in operation in Valle de los Ingenios in southern Cuba outside of Trinidad.

The tower (from wich the picture is taken)  and the bell in top of it was partly used as an alarm in case of fire or escaping slaves.

A collective taxi in Havana. follows a fixed route and the fee is close to nothing. Problem is that the Cubans often have less than that in their pocket.  January 30 2008.

“Hunny River” outside Baracoa in the eastern part of Cuba. Unlike the rest of the island this region has many rivers and there is almost a sense of rainforest.
