Mirror mirror on the wall!

This guy had a really hard time to let go of the mirror…

Walking down Porvenir street my left eye suddenly get a glimpse of an interesting hairdresser scene. Immediately an intensive negotiation process starts in my mind between the photographers ambition to achieve a good picture and my instinctive inhibition against sticking my camera under the noses of people I don’t know. The photographer wins the battle but a small sacrifice is needed…

I turn around, walk back and step into the hair salon asking.. can you cut my hair

Working the maize field!

Little boy working hard at the maize field.

Some decades ago I stayed a week in the Andean village of Huandoval in the province of Ancash, Peru.

It’s a small isolated place with no electricity and no telephone. You have to rely on shortwave radio for communication. In periods you can´t reach or leave the area because the road collapses in the rain!

A fantastic horseback ride excursion in the mountains with the shopkeeper of the village is a strong memory from that week!

Charcoal stack, Kolmila, Carbonero!

Somewhere between Viñales and Puerto Esperanza in Cuba 2008.

I asked the Charcoal burner if it wasn´t bad for his health to work in that smoke all day long?
No, he said. I have been doing this for 35 years and I´m perfectly okay!

The last period for this kind of charcoal production in Sweden was during world war two.
