Cebreiro

Cebreiro in Galicia lies at an altitude of 1300 meters. 8-9 of September every year there is a catholic ceremony at the church in honor of the Virgin Mary.  The Gallegos gather from all over the region for the event. Some arrives for religious reasons but many takes it as an excuse to party.. and oh my, they know how to party!

We arrived after a tough climb of 30 kilometers to Cebreiro conveniently the 8 of September.

The walk is over for this time, back home now, but still got a bunch of pictures worth showing.

The end of the world

Those who have wandered the 800 kilometers from France to Santiago de Compostela can keep on walking a few days extra, but no more than 100km.

This is where the world ends. Finito Finisterre!

Pilgrims

You meet a lot of interesting people along the Camino de Santiago.

This 87-year-old Peruvian lady is walking “El Camino” with her daughter and granddaughter. At this place, close to Sarria in Galicia, they still have more than 100 km to do!

The picture was taken the 11 of September. Me and Katja arrived to Santiago last night after an exhausting final distance of 36 km.

El CAMINO

Behind them Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla and Leon.

On the other side of that mountain there are still some 150 adventurous kilometers through the beautifully green Galicia to reach the final goal Santiago de CompostelaPicture taken the 8 of September

Cock fighting 3!

In a hidden place somewhere behind the “mogotes” in Viñales/Cuba passionate aficionados meet for the illegal cock-fight! Many people in this western part of the country are descendents from the Canary islands in Spain.

Bubble economy?

A man in central Palma de Mallorca/Spain making a living amongst the tourists!

Spanish borrowing costs has rocketed lately! Hope the solution wont be dramatic?
