Birdman 3

IMG_3602Yaniel with his precious rooster. He has been training it for months aspiring a victory at the cockfighting arena. Sadly the animal, if it survives, will not look so elegant after the battle!

Birdman 2

Birdman

IMG_3791I made friends with Yaniel in Viñales in the western part of Cuba. He has spent his whole life in that particular valley in Pinar del Rio province.

Yaniel is surrounded by animals of all sorts, horses, dogs, cattle and above all birds. The nature itself is his teacher and what Yaniel does´nt know about birds is not worth knowing.

By the way, do they see the same hairdresser??

One angry bird

From the Christmas day cock-fight at a hard to find place somewhere behind the Mogotes mountains in Viñales, Cuba.

And.. yes I know it´s a messy, cruel phenomena just like bullfights or any other activity that includes tormenting animals.

Lady in red 2

Which way to go? Gloria standing at the crossroads of Cuatro Caminos in Viñales, Cuba. The characteristic Mogotes mountains frames the background.

Take also a look at Lady in red.

Cock fighting 3!

In a hidden place somewhere behind the “mogotes” in Viñales/Cuba passionate aficionados meet for the illegal cock-fight! Many people in this western part of the country are descendents from the Canary islands in Spain.

What´s for dinner today?

This was a peculiar dog that absolutely refused to enter the kitchen in this farmhouse in Viñales/Cuba.  The other dog of the house was on the other hand constantly running in and out of the same room.

So he had his window where he looked in every now and then with that kind of hungry look on his face!  In the background you see tobacco plants, very common in this region of Cuba.
