The land of Guajiros

tinosa

When I go to Cuba I always find an excuse to visit the Viñales valley.  The bird flying in the center is a “tiñosa” (buzzard).

Picture taken January 18. 2005.

What´s for dinner today?

This was a peculiar dog that absolutely refused to enter the kitchen in this farmhouse in Viñales/Cuba.  The other dog of the house was on the other hand constantly running in and out of the same room.

So he had his window where he looked in every now and then with that kind of hungry look on his face!  In the background you see tobacco plants, very common in this region of Cuba.

Smoke gets in your eyes 2!

A tobacco farmer in Pinar del Rio, Cuba taking a brake contemplating his efforts with the fragil tobacco plants. This is the origin for the Cohibas, Partagas, Monte Cristo and so on. Only the best!

Have a cigar!

These are the tobacco leafs of Viñales and Pinar del Rio. Does not get any better than this! The quality of the Cohiba, Montecristo, and the Partagas cigars, all depend on the  meticulous work of men like this guajiro!
