Sightseeing Havana!
If you feel like a different sightseeing tour in Havana I would recommend you to put out your hand when a “Botero” passes by!
This is a collective taxi, almost always an old US made prerevolutionary wreck that runs along a fixed route. The price is next to nothing but the experience can be worth a lot.
The Boteros are not supposed to pick up tourists but they do anyway!!
From Marianao to Milan!
Chen is selling herbs, beans and rice at the central market in Marianao, Havana. As many Cubans he talks a lot. He is a big fan of AC Milan so that’s one of the main themes in his conversations with clients and colleagues! Nice guy!
Santiago de Cuba!
In the evening the streets of Tivolí turns into a living room, a bar, a love nest, gossip corner, concert arena, football ground, black market shop, dance hall….

Every time I visit Viñales in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, I make an excuse to pass by the house of Demetrio.. He is a likeable man!
Loaded security!
New year celebration in Havana 2006.
A big part of the city’s inhabitants gathered in Malecon to enjoy great music and dance all night long. Spirit is high. The Cubans knows how to party but things can get carried away sometimes.
The government seems terrified of disorder and therefore displays huge numbers of
military, police and other security officials to maintain a sense of safety and control.
Now.. I am sure this particular security guard (whatever that bottle contains?) is doing his best but….
